Multiaccess Dispersive Channels: Maximizing Sum Capacity and Interference Avoidance
نویسندگان
چکیده
By both lengthening the transmission interval so that ISI is almost inconsequential and by using combinations of channel eigenfunctions to convey the bits, communications over dispersive channels can be cast as a multiuser detection problem where each bit is assigned its own waveform. For a single dispersive channel – through interference avoidance or some other numerical method – a uniform maximum signal-to-interference plus noiseratio (SINR) can be achieved for each bit. These codeword ensembles also maximize the mutual information between the channel input and channel output assuming Gaussian signaling (sum capacity). For the multiple access case where different signals are received at a common base over different dispersive channels, we show that application of interference avoidance again yields an information theoretically optimal ensemble of codewords. Total Capacity of Multiaccess Vector Channels
The well known waterrlling power allocation policy maximizes the sum capacity of parallel Gaussian channels. We consider multiaccess vector channels with additive colored Gaussian noise and asymmetric user power constraints and completely characterize the sum capacity of this channel. We show that the sum capacity of the multiaccess vector channel is upper bounded by that of corresponding paral...
متن کاملFading Channels and Interference Avoidance
Interference avoidance for multiaccess fading channels is considered in the paper. Slowly varying (quasistatic) and rapidly varying (dynamic) frequency selective fading channels are considered. For the former application of interference avoidance is straightforward, while for the latter interference avoidance is applied to the average channel.
متن کاملInterference Avoidance and Dispersive Channels: A New Look at Multicarrier Modulation∗
The availability of software radios and application of interference avoidance may offer a new perspective on communication over dispersive channels. By both lengthening the transmission interval so that ISI is almost inconsequential and by using combinations of channel eigenfunctions to convey the bits, communications over dispersive channels becomes (not surprisingly) a multiuser detection pro...

OF THE DISSERTATION Interference Avoidance for Wireless Systems with Multiple Receivers by Otilia Popescu Dissertation Director: Professor Christopher Rose Interference avoidance is a class of adaptive modulation techniques in which, with feedback from the receiver, a transmitting radio is instructed to vary its waveform so as to maximize the signalto-interference plus noise-ratio. For an ensem...
متن کاملGaussian multiaccess channels with ISI: Capacity region and multiuser water-filling
The capacity region of a two-user Gaussian multiaccess channel with intersymbol interference (ISI), where the inputs pass through respective linear systems and are then superimposed before being corrupted by an additive Gaussian noise process, is found. A novel geometrical method is given to obtain the optimal input power spectral densities and the capacity region. This method can be viewed as ...
